The Marian Catholic computer labs are state of the art with over 70 computers in the lab.
The computers were upgraded over the summer and are Intel based machines running Microsoft Windows XP Professional. They are networked through a high speed 100-based FX fiber optic backbone that connects to a designated student server, a Compaq Proliant server, that runs Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
The computers are able to access the Internet, personal home drives for students, and also networked printers in the lab.
Students use these labs for various purposes ranging from programming classes to typing papers for English classes to science and math class programs, demonstrations, and simulations. When students begin school as a freshman they are given specific a network account to access the network and the Internet. Students are able to keep this account throughout their fours years at school.
In addition, 35 Apple iMac computers are used in a separate lab for wordprocessing.
All three of the computer labs are equipped with air conditioning units to keep the lab's computers from high temperatures and humidity during the summer months. |
