Dear Marian Catholic Alumni,
Another challenging year of academic and spiritual growth is underway, celebrated most recently with Marian Catholic’s Band performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. Since the school’s founding, alumni annual giving has helped the Dominican Sisters sustain the academic, religious and performance programs, as well as the facilities, surrounding their teaching mission. Fall 2008 will mark a year long celebration: It has been 50 years since the doors opened with a staff of ten and a single class of 205 freshmen. In the years that followed, the generous response of time, talent and treasure from alumni, parents, faculty and friends has raised Marian Catholic High School to a nationally recognized level of excellence.
Special capital campaigns over the life of the school have blessed us with a beautiful campus and learning facility. Rooted in the Catholic tradition, and sustained by benefactors, it is the Marian Annual Fund (MAF), however, which allows the school to operate on a daily basis. As a Marian Catholic Alum, we hope the foundation and memories of your legacy will merit special consideration to join the roll call of alumni investors—near and far!
With your annual giving commitment, the success of the 2007-2008 MAF will send a clear message of the importance of a Marian Catholic education as evidenced in your life. An unrestricted gift will help support the entire school operation, especially the Sr. Simeon Fund for emergency tuition aid, the implementation of a pilot distance learning program, and the adoption of Computer Assisted Design in graphic design courses.
As alums, parents, and alumni parents, the Marian Annual Fund 2007-2008 Committee supports the MAF and remains confident in the generosity of the broader community to recognize, as they do, the many facets it supports. An ’02 alum benefactor spoke of the long-term impact of the financial aid generated through annual giving: “Enclosed are funds for a student who many need this more than I. It is not much…though I have been gone for some time, and I am now a thousand miles away from home, I never forget that a scholar is no scholar at all if he does not have a soul.”
On behalf of the school’s leadership, we extend to you a personal invitation to partner with us to meet this year’s goal of full Alumni participation. Please know that your investment decision is essential and will benefit the operating services extended to 1,532 students.
