           GENERAL INFORMATION
The Marian Catholic High School fencing club is a co-ed club. Our season runs from late October through the beginning of February. There are no tryouts. All students who receive parental permission and agree to terms of club membership will be admitted.
We field men's and women's squads in foil, epee and saber. All first-year fencers will begin with foil.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN FENCING, SEE SR. DOROTHY MARIE, MS. ANN JONES OR A MEMBER OF THE FENCING TEAM!

Senior Sandy Denton tied for 3rd in Women's Epee and junior Tommy Sullivan placed 7th in Men's Foil at the New Trier Invite.

Terms of membership:

Club Fee:  $125.00 due no later than Nov. 15. Club fees are used to purchase and maintain our equipment for both practice and competition. They also cover fees for dual meets and team tournaments, as well as team t-shirts. We have masks, practice weapons, competition weapons, lames, body cords and scoring boxes.

Additional Costs:

Equipment:  Fencers are required to purchase their own jackets, pants and protective equipment.  These items must be regulation fencing equipment according to tournament rules.  We will be doing a group order for anyone interested, which gets us a club discount of 15% and means the Club pays for shipping.

Items you will need to purchase (discount not included) are:

  • Jacket - $46.00
  • Plastron (under arm protector) - $15
  • Pants - $30.00 to $46.00
  • Glove - $10.00
  • Chest Protector (women only) - $27.00

*- Saber fencers will need to acquire the following items:

  • Electric saber mask - $59 to $92
  • Saber glove or gauntlet - $13 to $49

Tournament fees:  Each fencer is responsible for paying their own entry fees for invitationals, opens and championship tournaments. These are typically $15 to $20 due at check-in the morning of the competition.
