Marian fell to Marist, March 5, in the Catholic JV playoffs, 4-1, despite a goal from Nick Kusner and assist by Brad Gorney.

 Head Coach Ryan Spencer was born in Canada and started playing hockey there. He moved to Colorado with his family when he was 11 years old. As an assistant for the Pikes Peak "A" travel squad, his teams won state championships two of three years.
He was a four-year varsity player at William J. Palmer High School. While there, he played in the state championships three of four years. As a senior, he was selected to play in the Chicago Showcase Tournament for Team Colorado.
Ryan graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he played for the Varsity Club for four years, and led the team in scoring his junior and senior seasons.
His coaching philosophy is as follows:
"There is much more to coaching than throwing pucks on the ice and running through drills. Communication between players and coaches during games and practices is the most important ingredient for success. The players have to know what you are asking of them, and why, before they can be really motivated, successful and purposeful on the ice." |
