Marian's Myles Howard gave Marian its first overtime lead, then Thaddeus Newby buried a three to give the Spartans a 42-40 edge. But Thornwood (23-5) scored the final four points, as Marian saw its season come to an end in OT for a second straight year.
Austin paced Marian with 12 points, while Hurt finished with 11 points and two steals. Austin Richie tallied six points with five rebounds and Myles Howard had five rebounds and six blocked shots.
Thornwood missed six overtime free throws, but still outscored Marian at the line, 9-4, and had a decided advantage in second-chance points.
