Ben Nichele to represent Marian at IHSA state tourney
Marian Catholic's Ben Nichele shot 77 to tie for best score (second place after playoff) in the St. Ignatius Sectional on Tuesday at George Dunne Golf Course to earn a berth in the IHSA Class 3A state tournament on Friday-Saturday at The Den in Bloomington.
The Spartans scored 331 to finish fifth overall as a team, just five strokes behind champion Homewood-Flossmoor and runner-up Lincoln Way East. Frank Narcisi carded 82 to just miss the individual state cut, while Keith Haines added an 84 for Marian and Doug Tolish added an 88.
