QUICK KICKS: After more than 70 minutes of scoreless play, Homewood-Flossmoor scored the lone goal of the match to earn a 1-0 victory over Marian Catholic on Oct. 21 in the championship match of the Bloom Township Class AA Regional.
Alex Franzese scored three goals and Kipp Cartwright notched two goals and an assist to pace Marian Catholic (15-7) to a 7-1 victory over Illiana Christian Tuesday in a semifinal of the Bloom Township Class AA Regional. The Spartans will play in the regional final vs. H-F on Friday at 7 p.m.
Jim Lauer and Joe Uhll added scores Tuesday for Marian, which got assists from R.J. Salasky (two), Vito Franzese, Alex Cepela, Julian Deisch and John Pizzato. A strong defensive effort required Marian goalie Matt McGlone to make just one save.
