QUICK KICKS: For the better part of 55 minutes on Oct. 26, Marian Catholic showed little respect for the seeds as the 10th-seeded Spartans battled the No. 2 seed in the Andrew Sectional, Lincoln-Way Central, to a scoreless tie.
However, the Knights eventually broke through for a three-goal blitz and advanced to the finals of the Homewood-Flossmoor Regional with a 3-0 decision. Before footing became difficult for the Marian defense, Spartan goalie Aaron Angelini kept the Spartans (9-13-1) in the contest with several outstanding saves. |
