Recently, a mailing originated from the men’s wrestling program of Marian Catholic High School. This mailing contained a note of encouragement from head coach Joe Gilbert. It also contained a seasonal profile and a copy of the Marian Catholic High School program booklet. These packets were mailed to a variety of youth Wrestling participants, and most notably those of the South Chicago section of the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation.
After a personal consultation with executives of the Illinois High School Association, Marian Catholic High School is in conflict with By-Law 3.070 regarding recruitment rules.
The Marian Catholic High School administration did not authorize this mailing and regrets any inconvenience that this mailing may have caused our constituents, our prospective students, and our neighboring/league schools.

Spartan Elias Larson gains an advantage over his foe on Saturday morning at the Bloom Trail IHSA Regional Tournament.
The Spartans scored 210 points behind five individual champions to capture their first regional crown since 1997.

Brendan Murphy (125, 26-2)- pinned by Chris Dardanes (Fenwick), 5:48 (eliminated).
Mark Marianovich (130, 27-3)- beat Rocco Wade (Batavia), 8-2; beat Jacob Wojcik (Providence), 10-2; lost to Jake Gregerson (Montini), 8-5; beat Wojcik (Providence), previous decision; lost to Kyle Williams (Mascoutah), 9-2 (FOURTH PLACE).

Kyle Wright (152, 14-2)- beat Gary Walliser (Granite City), 4-3; pinned by Jake Lehr (Bloomington), 5:46 (eliminated).

Feb. 9: Shepard IHSA Individual Sectional |
Marian Catholic earned five state tournament berths and had four individual champions on Saturday at the Shepard IHSA Sectional, including Steven Murphy, Brendan Murphy, Mark Marianovich and Elias Larson.
Kyle Wright prevailed in a third-place match to collect Marian's fifth berth in the individual state finals on Friday and Saturday at the University of Illinois.
