Jori JacobeitMarian Catholic 2000 senior Jori Jacobeit is one of 50 student-athletes in Illinois  to qualify for the Illinois High School Association's "Right  Stuff Recognition Program."

The new program rewards those students that "demonstrate a solid  work ethic in the classroom, exemplary sportsmanship during  competition, and all around good citizenship at school and in  the community." The "Right Stuff" program awards 50 $500  scholarships to 25 male and 25 female students that qualify,  to be used to further their  education.

One of the finest cross  country and girls track athletes Marian Catholic has ever  produced, Jacobeit has proven she can excel in the class room  and in competition.

Jacobeit won individual Class AA regional titles and led Marian to team  cross country titles in 1998, 1999 and 2000, while qualifying  for the IHSA state meet in 1998 and 1999. She has been  all-East Suburban Catholic Conference and Marian team MVP for  the last three years.
In all four of her years at Marian, Jacobeit was the cross country  "Mileage Champion" for both the boys and girls  program.

In girls track, Jacobeit  finished in 28th place in the 2000 Class AA state 3,200-meter  race, while qualifying for both the 1,600 and 3,200 state  races in 2001. She owns the Marian Catholic School records for  both the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.

Jacobeit, the daughter of Rich South boys basketball coach  Fred Jacobeit and granddaughter of legendary Bloom High School  Athletic Director Fred Jacobeit, Sr., also excels in the  classroom. She ranks 26th in a senior class of 372 and has a  grade-point average of 4.19 on a 4.0 scale.

Jacobeit plans to attend Illinois Wesleyan University.

Jori also timed 12:20.77 in the 2001 IHSA Class AA state 3,200-meter finals at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium to capture 36th place overall.  She also qualified in the 1,600, but did not advance to the finals
