Marianīs Casey Taylor leaps to her third IHSA state triple jump title on May 21 at Eastern Illinois University.

Taylorīs jump of 40-3.25 was the third best all-time and she owns three of the state meetīs top 10 best efforts.

   Having already wrapped up her third consecutive IHSA state triple jump championship, unsatisfied senior Casey Taylor bested her own effort with a leap of 40 feet, 3.25 inches Saturday at EIUīs OīBrien Stadium to put the icing on the most impressive athletic career in more than 45 years at Marian Catholic.
   Taylor added a seventh-place state finish in the long jump with a 17-9.5 effort, while sophomore Melissa Gergel captured ninth in the pole vault with a vault of 11-0.

Marianīs Burks wins Torch Award

   Marian Catholic assistant coach LaVon Palmer-Burks recently was named a Torch for Youth award winner from the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Chicago Alumnae Chapter. Several winners will be honored as Outstanding Individuals in the Community at the Torch Awards Banquet on June 18.
