Spartan Amber Simonton timed 26.74 on Friday in the IHSA Class 3A preliminaries for the 200-meter dash to captures 21st place in the state in competition at Eastern Illinois University.

Marian Catholic junior Amber Simonton timed 26.44 in the 200-meter dash on Saturday to win the Homewood-Flossmoor Sectional championship in the event and qualify for next weekend's IHSA state meet at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
