Marian Winter Guard Places 6th in

Marian Catholic Band is known for its music program across the country. Now, its reputation for visual excellence continues to grow with is performance and placement in The Thirtieth Annual Winter Guard International Championships. Guards from across the country and around the world competed in Dayton, Ohio last weekend. The 200 groups in attendance represented many states from Massachusetts to Florida, North Carolina to California, as well as other countries including Great Britain, Canada and Japan.
Marian competed in the Scholastic Open Class, which is reserved for high school sponsored groups competing at a more advanced level. They met 40 other guards in this classification and placed 6th after three days of competition. Marian’s Winter Guard was the only Illinois group accepted into Scholastic Open finals. Their show, entitled “Hallelujah”, used portions of Handel’s Messiah and featured Marian Catholic President, Sister Mary Paul McCaughey, with narration. This season ends with several wins at local competitions, First Place at the Midwest Colorguard Circuit in Scholastic Open, and Marian’s fourth time in National Finals at Winter Guard International.
