1997 Winterguard

1997 WinterguardThis year Marian Catholic High School had its very first winter guard. Jennifer Leseth, colorguard designer and instructor for Marian, created and taught the show. The five and a half minute show entitled "A Whole Lot of Something About Nothing" came from music by the Dirty Dozen Brass Band of New Orleans. This jazz piece made the show an exciting one for the participants as well as the audience at numerous shows in Illinois as well as one in Florida. The first year proved to be a good one as they won most of their competitions in the Scholastic Open Class.

1997 WinterguardAt WGI Regionals they received third place and won first in their class at the Midwest Circuit Championships. The girls achieved a high performance show from practicing a minimum of eleven and a half hours per week. This new experience for everyone will hopefully benefit Marian's fall program.

The Marian Catholic Band program has a reputation as being one of the outstanding concert and marching bands in the United States. Over the past twelve years the bands have earned hundreds
of awards and honors. A great many band alumni have gone on to success in musical programs at
the college and professional level. Band is one of the most exciting, rewarding, and demanding
activities that a student can participate in. The Marian Band is a nationally recognized symbol of
the excellence Marian students strive for - and achieve!
