1999 Percussion

1999 PercussionThis year Marian Catholic High School takes another leap towards strengthening it's percussion program. The Percussion Ensemble held its first ever concert in front of a packed crowd in the school's auditorium. The ensemble performed music that provided them with a different style than the music they perform in the marching and concert bands. The music they performed was challenging, and yet extremely entertaining. The ensembles are open to all percussionists at Marian, providing the students with a great opportunity to grow musically.

Here is a list of some of the literature we are performing/reading this season:

"Bali" by David Gordon
"Between the Lines" by Lynn Glassock
"Proclamation" by Jared Spears
"Ritmos" by Steve Kastuck
"Head Talk" by Mark Ford
"Team Work" by Lynn Glassock
"Four Studies" by Mario Gaetano
"Paschal Dances" by David Gillingham
"Dill Pickles" by Charles Johnson/Becker
"Stinkin' Garbage" by Ed Argenziano
"Fluffy Ruffles" by George Hamilton Green/Cahn
"Troika" from Lt. Kije by Sergei Prokofiev/Maricle
"Highlife" by Phil Faini

The Marian Catholic Band program has a reputation as being one of the outstanding concert and marching bands in the United States. Over the past twelve years the bands have earned hundreds
of awards and honors. A great many band alumni have gone on to success in musical programs at
the college and professional level. Band is one of the most exciting, rewarding, and demanding
activities that a student can participate in. The Marian Band is a nationally recognized symbol of
the excellence Marian students strive for - and achieve!
