Through Bands of America success and marching in the Presidential Inaugural Parade, the Marian Catholic Marching Band has gained nationwide recognition. So many have contributed to one of America's finest high school band programs. So few have had the opportunity to see the seven-time Grand Nationals Champions perform.
Just as Marian Catholic offers "Education beyond the books… in your own back yard," it's time for the Marian Catholic Band to again display its excellence in a prestigious local venue.
That opportunity arrives on Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m. "Command Performance II" will be held at Governors State University's Center for Performing Arts.
In conjunction with the performance, the concert will serve as a thank you to friends of the Band and to Band Director Greg Bimm for 25 years of amazing service to Marian Catholic High School.
With seven BOA Grand National Championships and nationwide recognition, the Marian Band has raised the bar to a challenging level for maintaining excellence.
"Ours is 'human capital,' a celebration of beauty that relies on people: the beauty of the human spirit as it becomes one with the Spirit of God in and through music," Marian President Sr. M. Paul McCaughey, O.P. said. "We continue to rely on you, as friends of the Marian Catholic High School Band, to keep us in tune, to support young people who study and serve, parade and perform, march and mentor each other."
The call to invest in the future of the Marian Band goes well beyond any list of accomplishments. "I'm impressed based on the achievements— yes," Moore explained. "But more so the participation and standards of behavior, respect and responsibility of the students for the leadership of this group and the image of the school. Marian's Band is unparalleled with any organization I've been associated with at the university, college or high school level.
"The growth and spirituality of each individual is foremost in the process of being a student together with their directors in four years at Marian Catholic."
