This award is based on academics, service, and need. Requires 3.0 GPA.

Acacia Leadership Scholarship
(For Gentleman Only)
This award is for male students who plan to attend Iowa State or University of Iowa. Selection is based on academics, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement.
DEADLINE: April 15.
 

 

Advance Capital Management
This scholarship is for students whose parents are Ameritech Employees.
Required: 2.5 GPA; community service involvement/leadership; 500 words-or-less essay; three letters of recommendation.  Not need based.

Alpha Delta Kappa
This award is for seniors, male or female, who plan to major in education.

American Legion
Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who are sons or daughters of a member of American Legion Posts in Illinois. 
One year $1,000 Boy Scout Scholarship awarded to a qualified Senior Boy Scout or Explorer.
American Legion Oratorical Contest offers tuition scholarships from $1,000 to $1800.

American Legion - Monee Doss-Malone
Post No. 1200
Two $500 scholarships are awarded annually to two seniors who are descendant of a veteran and have 2.5 GPA. Based on academic record, ancestors service membership and involvement, leadership ability, and financial need.  Requires an essay.

Amvets Scholarships
Variety of scholarships offered. Financial need a criterion. Do not have to be child of a veteran for some of them.

Arbor Park Scholarships (Tinley Park and Oak Forest)
Arbor Park School District 145 PTO offers two (2) $750 scholarships to Arbor Park Middle School graduates.  One $1,000 award, The JoEllen Bolden Memorial Scholarship, is to major in education.

ARCHDIOCESAN COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN (For Ladies only)
This $1,000 renewable scholarship requires: C average, extra curricular activities, letters of recommendation from Dean of Students and Pastor or Youth Minister, 300 word essay.
DEADLINE: Mid-May deadline.
 

 

Arrigo Scholarship (Italian)
Scholarships of $1,000 are awarded to seniors who have at least one parent of Italian ancestry.  Required: letter of recommendation from principal, teacher, and counselor; 500 word essay; ACT or SAT scores. Financial need a consideration.
DEADLINE: Mid-March deadline.
 

 

Association of Iron & Steel Engineers (AISE)
Children of an Active or Associate member of the Chicago District Section of the AISE who plan to major in engineering, metallurgy, physical sciences, or computer technology, are eligible for this $1,000 grant.  The award will be based on academic achievement, with emphasis on the sciences.  Financial need not a factor. 
DEADLINE: Mid-May deadline in Guidance.

Schering / Key Asthma Athlete Of The Year Scholarship Program
One $10,000 and four $5,000 scholarships are awarded to seniors nationwide who, despite having asthma, have excelled at academics and athletics.  DEADLINE: April 1

Joseph Blazek Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is open to high school seniors in Cook County who desire to major in engineering, mathematics, chemistry, physics or related scientific fields.  Need is a consideration.  ACT or SAT required. Awards are four year renewable.

BP Community Scholarship Program
BP awards $2,000 scholarships to seniors who reside in Northern Illinois, Chicago, or Northwest Indiana. Applications are available at participating BP gas stations beginning mid-January. Student must have a 2.0 GPA and financial need.

Burger King
Seniors who work 15-40 hours per week at Burger King, have a 2.5 GPA, and participate in community service and/or co-curricular activities are eligible for a scholarship.  One student may be nominated from the school.

Calumet City Lions Club
Applicants must be residents of Calumet City, have 2.5 GPA, be active in school and community organizations, and write 100-word essay.

Carpe Diem Foundation Of Illinois

Charitabulls Scholarship Program
Four scholarships are awarded.  Financial need is not a consideration.  One of the four, John Paxson Scholarship Award, is based on academics and athletics.  The other three scholarships are based on an essay, academics, and extracurricular/community activities, not athletics

Scholarships are awarded to seniors who plan to major in engi-neering and need financial assistance.  Must have 3.0 GPA, mini-mum ACT score, and school activities.

Ten William Lee Memorial Scholarships are awarded to children of members of local unions affiliated with the Chicago Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO.

Three (3) $1,000 scholarships are awarded to seniors for techni-cal and vocational training.

Chicago Roofing Contractors Association
$2,000 renewable scholarship is awarded to a high school senior for study in liberal arts and sciences, engineering, architecture or business.

Chicago Sun-Times Journalism Scholarship
The Chicago Sun-Times will award a $5,000 Herman Kogan Scholar-ship to Chicago area high school senior who plans to study journ-alism.  Requirements include 250-word essay and at least two recent writing samples.

Chinese American Cultural & Educational Foundations
Awards are made to students of Chinese descent.

CNA Scholarship Program (CNA Employee sons/daughters)
Scholarships, based on results of PSAT, will be awarded to sons & daughters of full-time CNA Insurance employees.

Coca-Cola Scholars Program
This program awards fifty $20,000 and two hundred $4,000 scholar-ships payable over four-year period. Applicants must demonstrate leadership in school, civic, and extracurricular activities, and academic achievement.

William J. Cook Scholarship (For Gentlemen Only)
Male high school seniors attending a high school in Cook County who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at a four-year college/university qualify for these scholarships which range from $500 - $7,000.  Selection based on both merit and financial need.

Country Club Hills Chamber Of Commerce Dollars For Scholars
This award requires: Country Club Hills residency, 3.0 GPA, proof of community service, letters of recommendation, 250-word type-written essay.

Scholarships are available for students who demonstrate exceptional talent in fashion merchandising, fashion design, interior design or visual degisn.

Bernard Harris Scholarship Program
Bernard C. Harris Publishing Company offers four (4) awards of $1,000 to deserving students graduating from a Catholic high school.  Selection criteria: family values, entrepreneurship, evidence of academic achievement.  Minimum GPA of B.  One senior chosen from the applications will represent Marian.  DEADLINE: Early February.

Horace Mann Scholarships
A parent or legal guardian must be a full-time or part-time em-ployee of a public school district or public college/university for a senior to qualify for this scholarship.  Other criteria: B average and 23 ACT or 1100 SAT.

Illinois Manufactured Housing Association (IMHA)
Awards are offered to seniors who are residents in a manufactured home community or a manufactured home purchased from a member of IMHA.

Illinois Odd-Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Program
Selections will be based on financial need, scholastic ability, and will include students with a C or above average grade from a family of average income.  Applicants need not be affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, BUT MUST BE A RESIDENT OF ILLINOIS.

Illinois Real Estate Foundation Scholarships
Three (3) scholarships are offered to students pursuing a degree with an emphasis in real estate or allied field.  Financial need is a consideration.

  2. Morgan L. Fitch Scholarship for students admitted to or attending University of Illinois - minimum $2,000
  3. Academic scholarships - minimum $1,000

Scholarships will be awarded to students residing in Illinois to be used in State of Illinois schools.  Essay and letter of recommendation required.

Illinois State Tuition Waiver For Air Force ROTC
If you are an Illinois resident between 17 and 28 and are attending University of Illinois-Chicago, Northern Illinois, Northeastern Illinois, or Chicago State, you may apply for an Air Force state scholarship.

The Angela Scholarship is for an Italian-American with financial need who has performed at least 13 hours of community service in an Italian-American community. Must be willing to intern at foundation's offices in Washington, DC, for one semester of college.

Joint Civic Committee Of Italian Americans
Two scholarships are offered to students who have one parent of 50% Italian ancestry.  The Women's Division awards a $1,000 scholarship to a female senior.  The John Fischetti Scholarship awards $1,000 to a male or female to major in Journalism or Media Communications.
