Logging into the Network

A few words about passwords and security.

Passwords are meant to be kept very secure and private. Do not let anyone have your personal password to login to the network and more importantly PowerSchool. Releasing passwords to students is strictly prohibited.

Student Grades - it is neither advisable nor legal for students´ grades to become public knowledge. Students are not allowed to enter grades for teachers either.

Your personal email - you may not want others to be privy to your personal correspondence. We ask that you try to check email twice a day. It is vital that you check your email as many important messages will begin to be distributed via email. To check email through the web, click on the Webmail link underneath services.

Logging into Windows XP

Make sure the monitor and computer are both turned on.

When the login dialog box appears, press CTRL+ALT+DEL, then type in your username and password. Make sure that you are logging into the MARIAN domain. (NOTE: Do not try to log into any machine with CRxxx because you will receive an error.)

Click ok.

The box will disappear and you will be viewing your desktop. You now will have access to any networked drives or printers that have been mapped to your computer.

Logging off in Windows XP

Click "start" in the lower lefthand corner of the screen. Then click on "shutdown."

Click the button saying "Close all programs and logon as a different user." (This will close your account; but not shutdown the machine.)

Click ok.

The login dialog box will appear again. This means you are officially logged out of the machine.

If you do not logoff the computer, you will make the computer unaccessible for the next teacher to use!
