The technology department recommends changing your passwords at least every semester. Please remember that the classroom computers have access to the administrative network, email, and PowerSchool, so it is very important that you keep students and classroom aides from using your computer. DO NOT give anyone your passwords to the networks.
Some general guidelines for the passwords are:
- Keep them secure and private
- They must be at least six characters long (no spaces)
- They must contain a mix of letters and numbers
- Avoid words that can be found in a dictionary. There are widely available password cracking programs that can quickly try every word in the dictionary to determine your password. These programs even include Spanish and French words as well.
- Avoid using your first name, last name, children or family names.
Hints: Passwords can be hard to guess, but very easy to remember if you use the first letters from simple phrases, ie: "Liberty and Freedom are for me" becomes the password "LaFa4m"
