Freshmen
- Fall classroom orientation of counseling services (September)
- Freshmen group sessions – Orientation to Marian Catholic and opportunity to make new friends through group interaction (September)
- Administration of standardized testing in October and subsequent interpretation of results

- Academic counseling throughout the year for all students experiencing difficulty

Sophomores
- Sophomore Parent Night for college admissions
- Fall classroom orientation of college and counseling services (September)
- Administration of standardized testing in October and subsequent interpretation of results •
- Sophomore individual or group sessions to introduce career explorer/planner sections of Naviance Student, a web-based program which offers information on interests, values, experiences, and abilities as related to careers
- Academic counseling for students experiencing difficulty
- Career Day
- Registration information for the next school year (Second Semester)
- Students are encouraged to attend a summer program at a college or university. Information regarding these programs can be found in Naviance Student as well as in the College Room. Students who are interested in a particular college or university, should check to see if they host summer programs.
Juniors
- Fall College Room orientation of counseling Services and how to prepare for the college process (September)
- College Fair at Prairie State College
- Use of Naviance Student to coordinate career and college choices (Fall)
- Visit with college representatives in College Room; students initiate appointment
- Junior Parent Night for college admissions (Fall)
- Administration of PSAT in October and subsequent interpretation of results
- Academic counseling for students experiencing difficulty
- Individual meetings with counselor
- Parent College Financial Aid Workshop (December)
- Registration information for the next school year (Second Semester)
- College counseling conferences with counselors meeting individually with second semester juniors and parents to begin the college admissions process
- Test prep courses for ACT and SAT offered with additional fees involved
- Administration of SAT (March) and ACT (April) in the second semester (may be taken at other schools in January, February, May, and June)
- Seminars on college preparation for specific areas: highly selective colleges, athletes, writing the college essay, and students who do not meet admission requirements of a college or university
