Spartans top Oak Forest for Sweet 16 berth
June 1- Katie Pollock fanned 12 and scattered three hits Wednesday, leading Marian Catholic to the Sweet 16 with a 9-0 victory over Oak Forest in the semifinals of the Joliet Catholic IHSA 3A Sectional. The Spartans (18-16) will take on Lemont for the sectional crown at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Jasmine Venson rapped three safeties and Pollock two in the eight-hit attack for the Spartans. Pollock and Sarah McManus each collected a pair of RBI.
