Color Guard and Winter Guard
Part of the Marian Catholic Marching Band, Color Guard is a performance ensemble that combines dance choreography with specialized equipment including flags, mock rifles, and sabers, adding a visual element to the band's show. Along with the band, the Color Guard appears at home football games and marching competitions throughout the fall. During competition, the guard adds to the overall score of the band and is also judged in a category usually called auxiliary.
Winter Guard is similar to Color Guard, except that performances take place indoors on a tarp on a gymnasium floor. Equipment, props, and costumes are carefully choreographed to bring the artistic vision of a musical theme to life. Marian Catholic offers both competitive and recreational options for Winter Guard that meet outside of regular school hours during the spring semester. Marian Catholic’s Winter Guard staff includes both locally and nationally renowned choreographers and designers, as well as Marian Catholic Winter Guard alumni who work together to create a professional, educational, and enriching dance and performance experience for members.
Students do not need any previous dance or color guard experience to participate in either Color Guard or Winter Guard. Everyone is welcome!
