Marian Catholic’s highly acclaimed theatre department provides opportunities for students to develop strong skills in collaboration, communication, and creative interpretation and expression through theatre classes, as well as opportunities to participate in our annual theatre productions. The Marian Catholic Theatre Department is designed to encourage growth, confidence, work ethic, and leadership. Whether it is through public speaking, acting, performing, dancing, singing, or technical work, members of the Marian Catholic Theatre Department will gain experience in a myriad of ways that foster success.

    • About Marie Groh (mariegroh@gmail.com)
      Marie Groh has over 20 years of experience teaching private and group voice, music directing, and performing throughout the Chicago area. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Millikin University and has performed with companies such as Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Theatre at the Center, and Porchlight Music Theatre. Her directing and vocal directing credits include Miss Saigon, Cinderella, The King and I, Anything Goes, Barnum, and Grease. Marie has also served as a vocal clinician for District 204’s IHSA Solo & Ensemble Festival and has worked on Marian productions of Footloose, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors, and Joseph.

Meet the Director/Producer, Laura Hilger

Ms. Hilger is the Director of Speech and Theatre at Marian Catholic, where she spends her days directing plays, musicals, and Group Interpretations on the same stage she grew up performing on. She is also the founder and artistic director of Rose Theatrics, a company centered on fostering accessible, professional-quality theatre in our own community that empowers voices and illuminates minds.
