Concert Bands

The Marian Catholic High School Band Program includes three concert bands that rehearse and perform during the spring semester: Cadet Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. Freshman and beginning musicians are automatically placed in the Cadet Band, but have the option to audition for either the Concert or Symphonic Band. The Concert and Symphonic Bands are open to all sophomores, juniors, and seniors with placement determined by audition at the beginning of each quarter.

The concert bands at Marian Catholic have consistently earned superior ratings in Illinois High School Association organizational contests. The Symphonic Band is undefeated in its class at the Illinois Superstate Concert Band Contest while the Concert Band has placed first in its class at the State of Illinois Concert Band contest every year attended. The Marian Symphonic Band participated in the first Bands of America National Concert Band Festival as well as in 1995 and 1998 and has also performed at the National Band Association Convention.

Percussion Ensemble

The percussion program at Marian Catholic offers students a wide variety of playing experiences. During the fall semester, percussionists can play on the drumline for home football games as well as competitions. Percussionists (including piano players!)  also have the opportunity to play mallet and keyboard instruments in the front ensemble as part of the marching band. In the spring, percussionists have the opportunity to play several different instruments in various percussion-only ensembles that perform at the Solo & Ensemble Contest, as well as their own concert at the end of the year.
