Faith Life
As a Catholic institution, faith is the foundation of Marian Catholic High School. Sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois, we accept our call to pursue Truth and to compassionately preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The spiritual atmosphere at Marian Catholic sets it apart from other area high schools. In support of Marian Catholic’s mission, four years of theological studies are augmented by a vibrant Campus Ministry Department.
Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry implements programs that contribute to the spiritual welfare of the entire Marian Catholic community. The department works to develop a Catholic religious environment that fosters a deepening personal relationship with God through Christian formation and a foundation built upon the Dominican charism—specifically the Four Pillars of Prayer, Study, Community, and Preaching. Regular opportunities for participation in the sacraments and other prayer experiences are offered. A comprehensive retreat program assists students in their spiritual growth.
All-School Liturgies
The Marian Catholic Community gathers several times throughout the school year to pray and celebrate the sacraments together. All-school Masses take place in the West Gym; all are welcome to join in these celebrations. Students are always welcome to visit our beautiful Chapel which also serves as the setting for smaller prayer experiences.
Liturgical ministries include altar servers, lectors, musicians, singers, and ushers. Senior students have the opportunity to serve as Eucharistic ministers and begin training at the end of their junior year.
Campus Ministry is also happy to help facilitate the reception of Catholic Sacraments for students through the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Daily Prayer
Every day at Marian Catholic is rooted in prayer. Each day starts with morning prayer, and every day ends with the recitation of the Dominican Blessing:
May God, Creator, bless us.
May God, Redeemer, heal us.
May the Holy Spirit enlighten us and give us all we need:
eyes to see with,
ears to hear with,
hands to do the work of God,
feet for walking,
mouths for preaching words of saving power.
May the Angel of Peace watch over us and lead us, by God’s grace, to the Kingdom.
Amen
